valentines soundtrack

20 million - rivermaya

20 million diamonds crown the sky tonight

silence for two lovers’ everything
they tell me whispering’s a virtue,
and holding hands’ their game

‘tis cold, it’s cold

and as i watch the candle turn this night to day

my life collects another yesterday

alone in the darkness, i am waiting for the one
while lovers wait for the sun lay
i am waiting for the one.

stalk the streets do lovers in this town tonight

20 million heartbeats holding hands for them,
it’s darkness that’s most precious,

but tell me who can i embrace?
the cold?
coz there’s no one here to hold

and as i watch the candle burn this night away
my life collects another yesterday

alone in the darkness, i am waiting for the one
while lovers wait for the sun lay
i am waiting for the one.

who’ll light the darkness with her name?
heal this blackout pain

be careful what you wish for..

when 2007 was beginning to end, i sort of made a wish, hoping that i could land a gig that would enable me to do what i have always wanted since i started working: and that is to do ground up development of software applications. i have always wanted to be a very good programmer, and for that to happen, i need all the exposure i need.

by december 2007, i got into a team that would develop some kind of time-tracking system for the company, it is an internal project. i only had the chance to work on it when i don't have anything else to do with my main project at that time. meaning, i can only work on it on my spare time. sucks, but it was better than nothing. good thing that when the last week of january came, there were no workload available on my main project so me and the team got the slack we were looking for to really focus on this internal project. it was really nice getting into the kind of work you always want to do and be good at it. it was also a good bonus that i am able to share what i know to some of the guys in the team that are new to web application development.

then tuesday last week, i was approached by my project manager and she offered me a chance to get into full time web application development for java. but i'm gonna be transferred to another project, another team. meaning leaving the guys i have worked with since april (since spain), leaving some friends, and be transferred to another project. oh man, i didn't even blink. i said yes, right there and then. this was the gig i was hoping for, so i knew i have to get it. right?

so anyways, earlier today was my start with my new project. i also met my new teammate, (so far there are only two of us involved in the actual development and i don't know if they are going to bring in any other guys soon.) who incidentally is also the author of one of blogs i sometimes visit. the project seems pretty challenging and i can already see the many overtime hours i will render to finish this project (i remember this one time in my previous job that me and my boss had to do 48 hours straight to do all the overhaul needed for the project we were doing then). hopefully i will be learning new things from this project and add some new code-jutsu to my repertoire. hehe.

time to get my hands dirty with all the codes i can handle.. rakenrol.

wooohooo! fallout 3!

i am a fan of role playing games. i started with pen and paper advanced dungeons and dragons and i immediately knew that those were the kind of games i wanted to play. i like immersing myself in fantasy realms and playing various characters. i enjoy the interaction, the unique way of moving forward of the games. so even when it comes to pc games (even console games), i rather play RPGs than RTS or FPS. i more enjoy the long hours of completing an RPG than the fast-paced RTS or FPS games.

one of my all time favorite RPGs are the Fallout series from the now defunct Interplay Studios. Fallout 1 & 2 won critical acclaim in the field of RPGs and even winning Game Of The Year awards from various gaming sites when they were released years ago. go to any gaming site and you will see those titles as one of the best releases EVER, along with the Baldur's Gate series and Myst series of games. Fallout combined immersive storylines, a great turn-based combat system, a lot of humor and a structure that has high replayablity (you can finish the game in many various ways, and all the choices you make in the games REALLY does have EFFECT on the games endings). but when Interplay Studios shutdown, the hopes of extending the game series has been lost to many who have enjoyed the Fallout games. but now, there is hope..

Bethesda Softworks, the creator of the award-winning game Oblivion, has acquired the rights to produce and develop the next sequel to the Fallout games. they have been on the works for the sequel and this coming fall of 2008, Fallout 3 is going to hit the stores. hell yeah! we are going back to the post-nuclear war setup, meeting with super-mutants, hanging out with the brotherhood of steel and gonna be killing some baddies with a plasma rifle (or maybe with a sledgehammer).

now, i just hope the guys at Bethesda would be able to give the fans the next upgrade of the Fallout series that would truly kick some serious shit.
