25 THINGS (tagged by shelley, on facebook)

sabi nga ni shelley, better late that never. :D

1. the reason i got into being a software programmer is because of the movie "Hackers". angelina jolie & johnny lee miller. crash & burn. after watching that movie, i was like "holy crap, you can do that with computers? i wanna learn how to do that!" that was 1997.

2. when i was in high school, i was in the Dance Troupe club. folk dance, ballroom and all that shit. srly.

3. the first time i got into a fight was in fourth grade. two of my classmates were playing (like little children) at the classroom door and one of them "accidentally" pushed the door while i was passing by, hitting me from behind. i got so pissed off that i went to my chair, picked up my lunch box and smacked it to the guy's face on full force. good times.

4. being the geek that i am, i DID play pen & paper role playing games, specifically dungeons & dragons. i started playing it when i was in fifth grade.

5. currently, my fastest time in solving the rubik's cube is 1 minute 40 seconds.

6. i never took any college entrance exams other than the UPCAT. my mom got so angry when she found out that i didn't take exams to other schools. i told her "nay, kapag hindi ako pumasa sa UP, ayoko na mag-aral." good thing i passed or my mom would have disowned me. haha!

7. i started going to the UP Fair back in 1997 (i was still in high school then) and haven't missed a year since. too bad the UP Fair is getting too rowdy and chaotic lately because of all the orcs that are attending.

8. i am so fucking scared of dogs. (well, at least not of toy dogs like pugs or chow chow.) i will totally avoid any roads or streets that have dogs, and even talking the long way around just to avoid them. when they start barking at me, i will surely freeze up and will get scared shitless. im such a wuss when it comes to dogs.

9. ever since high school, i have always have some sort of music device that i carry with me. i started with the walkman cassette player and then upgraded it to a CD player around 2000 and then replaced it with a muvo mp3 player by 2004 and then gave it to my brother and bought myself a sony ericsson w800 in 2006. i bought my first ipod in 2007 in preparation for my trip to spain. i sold that ipod to a friend of mine august of 2008 so that i could buy the 160GB ipod that i now carry with me everyday. "dahil musika ang tanging kalaguyo."

10. i collect DVDs and audio CDs not necessarily for myself, but so that when i have kids of my own, i would like for them to have the chance to watch and hear some of the really cool movies and bands/artists that we have in our generation.

11. my all time favorite movies are Before Sunrise and Before Sunset. Julie Deply. Ethan Hawke. directed by Richard Linklater. no other movie, so far, has moved me the way these two movies did. if you haven't seen these, do yourself a favor and watch them. srly.

12. and because i now have a steady source of income (unlike when i was still in college), i have started expanding my graphic novel collection. the latest one that i got is R.A. Salvatore's The Legend of Drizzt Omnibus Collection from Devil's Due Publishing and Martial Law Babies by Arnold Arre.

14. i love the tv series Chuck. and because i am a proud geek like him, i've been dressing up like chuck bartowski whenever i can. hehe.

15. i still miss Spain, once in a while. i really wish i could go back there.

16. while still in college, i was able to get ALL possible grades from my subjects. from 1.0 to 5.0, even incomplete.

17. yes, me too, am a frustrated writer. i used to write lots of short stories, poems and what not when i was in college. i was also part of the school paper back in high school. i have been trying to finish this screenplay which is partly written in one of my blogs, in some of my notebooks and in my head. sobrang frustrating na. hehe.

18. the first song that i learned to play with the guitar is Eraserhead's Minsan. rakenrol.

19. my dream career is still to be a college professor, teaching software development while doing software solutions in my own little company. dream on.

20. i can cook a kick-ass fish sarciado. :D

21. i haven't had a cigarette since 1999 and i haven't taken some serious alcohol load since around 2003. i've been living straight-edge for quite some time now.

22. my all time favorite band is TOOL. no other band really blew me away like this guys did. not even after listening to Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. the great lyricism, the unique visuals, the technical kick-assery and the philosophy that comes with their music is just so powerful and dynamic and layered and challenging.

23. i have been an atheist for almost 9 years now. which started after all those talks with my social science professor and sit-ins at abstract layug's philosophy classes and discussions with other freethinkers and countless readings from ayn rand, dan barker, bertrand russell, niclas berggrenn, richard dawkins, christopher hitchens, etc. good times.

24. i am 9 units away from getting my master's degree in computer science, major in software development. too bad my former sponsor for that master's program still hasn't settled the financial issues with the school i was enrolled at and so i can't enroll myself or atleast get my credits. craptastic.

25. i have small feet, thus i always have a hard time buying myself shoes. adult's shoes are too big and kid's shoes are too small. whenever i wear my leather shoes, i always wear 2 layers or socks, just so i would not feel that my shoes are too big for my feet.

ever since napanuod ko si ellen page sa pelikulang Hard Candy at syempre sa award winning movie na Juno, ako ay naging isang taga-hanga na talaga. kung marami lang akong extrang pera, oorder ako ng lahat ng movies n'ya sa Amazon.com at ipadeliver dito sa bahay at magkaroon na ng ellen page marathon.
